WE ARE DISTURB

We disturb media. In a good way.

Our aim is to create digital niceties that are a little different to the norm, create an impact and give consumers a bit of a nudge.

disturb's now a few years old and has decades of collective experience and know-how in pretty much all things digital, especially when it comes to sales promotion and engaging users across all digital platforms.

We're situated in Clerkenwell, London - A few minutes' walk from Farringdon station. A lovely part of town with quite a lot going on. Most of it bad for us.

PROJECT

Swatch MTV Playground

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Development
  • Bespoke CMS build
  • Multi-language

DESCRIPTION

Working for our direct clients MTV and Swatch, we created swatchmtvplayground.com - an ongoing global venture encouraging budding artists to design their own Swatch online for a chance of winning an art-filled trip to Shanghai, and to connect with creative talent from around the world.

A mainly AJAX site build with specialist Flash elements, a fully bespoke multi-language CMS, and integration of third-party systems.

PROJECT

Bravo TV - Spartacus

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Development

DESCRIPTION

Working with our agency client Brooklyn Brothers, we created quite simply the most offensive project we've ever worked on, but one of the most fun at the same time. A simple yet very effective site where users can send the most disgusting insults to their 'friends'.

Using excerpts from the amazing TV series, we still don't know how this site didn't get banned.

PROJECT

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Facebook Connect API
  • Flash 3D

DESCRIPTION

The launch of a new Sony Ericsson mobile handset prompted an interesting project from our agency client Dare Digital.

One of the two main project requirements was to recreate the phone's touch-screen interface in Flash.

The other was an extremely involved Facebook Connect integration that allowed users to populate the on-screen content with friends' imagery and data.

PROJECT

Twigital

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Papervision 3D
  • Bespoke Physics engine

DESCRIPTION

We teamed up with two fantastic digital events to provide an innovative way for users to interact with relevant Tweets.

A beautifully crafted 3D London landscape inhabited by some quirky little characters made for an environment that's fun to explore and to learn more about the speakers from Flash on the Beach and London Digital Week.

PROJECT

Woolworths Idea Machine

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Development
  • Systems Integration

DESCRIPTION

We created 'The Ideas Machine' for our agency partners Brooklyn Brothers - a Flash-based online experience allowing users to generate relevant ideas to help keep families entertained during the school holidays.

An intricately animated build of the machine leads to an interface that appears to be from a bygone era. Once activated, the magical and mechanical journey produces ideas for games and activities.

PROJECT

Cushe Online Store

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Bespoke CMS build
  • HSBC API integration

DESCRIPTION

We were asked to create a unique and interesting shopping experience. From initial scamps to design and production this was a project we were responsible for in its entirety.

It looked great, worked great, and sold footwear at such a pace that the shop had to go offline while it got it's breath back.

PROJECT

Vodafone Nightwatchman

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Development
  • Bespoke streaming media player

DESCRIPTION

Vodafone needed to help cement their sponsorship of the England Cricket Team and their involvement with The Ashes Test Series 2009.

We were asked, by our agency client Dare Digital, to build and host a video-rich Flash site with around 15 hours of footage for fans of all levels to enjoy.

PROJECT

Hertz Chimney Challenge

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Development
  • Gameplay

DESCRIPTION

Our agency client, iris London, needed an engaging Xmas-themed online game for Hertz and their members to play and share, in order to win themselves a holiday.

disturb developed a suitably fun concept which proved a huge success.

PROJECT

Cushe Story

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Illustration
  • Animation

DESCRIPTION

Cushe were recently acquired by global footwear group, Wolverine.

disturb were asked to create a 5 minute animated piece to introduce Cushe and their brand ethos to the rest of the group at their annual conference in the US.

PROJECT

Community Work

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Illustration
  • Animation
  • Gameplay

DESCRIPTION

Where possible, we like to share our code with the community and we periodically create magazine tutorials of our methods.

We've created a wide range of mini-projects - from an animated comedian performing our own in-house routine, showing readers how to code visualisation of sound - to a flying Stuntman who helped us to illustrate some bespoke physics and different ways to perform hit tests in Flash while, most importantly, having fun.

PROJECT

Terry Christmas

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Development
  • Gameplay

DESCRIPTION

We like building games, and not just the paid ones. Last Christmas, we gave our clients the chance to win their gifts from us by creating terrychristmas.co.uk.

A fun little game that exposed quite a few competitive streaks. In turn, slowing our clients' productivity.

Sorry.

PROJECT

We Are The Rulers

SKILLS

  • Video Production
  • Animation
  • Viral Seeding
  • Fun!

DESCRIPTION

Purely for fun, disturb took what started out as a silly idea for an England World Cup Song to an end product that won a couple of contests.

Enlisting the help of Ska band 'No.1 Station', and some industry friends to chip in with some animation work, 'We are the Rulers' came to life and enjoyed mild success.

PROJECT

disturbmedia.com 2009

SKILLS

  • Design
  • Animation
  • Development

DESCRIPTION

This is our old site, an AS2 classic that was pretty well received by designers and developers alike

We wanted to create a site that had an unusual yet intuitive method of navigation to prove to ourselves that, with no prompts, users would be able to immediately educate themselves on its workings.
