! Murcia Today – 5 km solidarity walk and run against breast cancer in Orihuela: October 24
2,500 people are expected to participate in fundraising and awareness raising in Vega Baja, Alicante province, this weekend
Despite advances in research and the daily efforts of professionals, metastatic breast cancer continues to be a leading cause of death in women between the ages of 35 and 50, and it is estimated that last year, more than 6,000 women died in Spain as a result of the illness.
Speaking on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Tuesday, October 19, the President of the Spanish Association against Cancer (AEEC) in Orihuela, Irene Celdrán, thanked everyone involved in the organization of the Sunday charity walk and run and explained, “Every day we fight the disease. A lot of people haven’t overcome it, but that doesn’t make them any less courageous. But today is one day of hope, we must continue to fight for more research and the necessary prevention. “
Anyone interested in participating in the charity event can register for 10 euros on www.tragamillas.org until Friday, October 22 at 12 noon. If, after this deadline, there are bibs and pink t-shirts remaining, registrations will be accepted at the La Lonja building in Calle Aragón on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday at 8 a.m.
The runners will receive a black bib and the walkers will be dressed in fuchsia at the start of the Glorieta Gabriel Miró at 10am.
“It is recommended that on race day we all wear the pink t-shirt to see this tide running through the streets,” said organizers, who are expecting around 2,500 participants.
