Outstanding International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Results for ISKL

Students at the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) performed exceptionally well in this year’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) and Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

The director of the ISKL school, Mr. Rami Madani described the school’s results as “a testament to the hard work, resilience and determination of its students, teachers and administrators, especially after the difficult circumstances of the past two years”.

ISKL is unique in the flexibility of its high quality products High school academic programs, offering both the IB Diploma program and the ISKL Pursuits program which gives students the opportunity to combine individual IB, AP and High School Diploma courses to create their own program of studies. ISKL’s flexible curriculum allows students to tailor their study choices to suit their post-secondary ambitions around the world.

ISKL is the oldest IB World School Malaysia and continued its long-standing tradition of surpassing the global average IB Diploma score with students achieving an average of 36.2 points and a pass rate of 98%. World averages (not currently published by the IB) are generally around 32 points and a pass rate of 85%).

Two ISKL students were among the top students in the world to achieve a perfect score of 45 points, which puts them in what is usually the top percent of IBDP applicants globally. Six other students scored 44 points and 32% of students scored 40 points or more, results that typically put students in the top 10% of IB Diploma scores globally. 20% of students graduated bilingually in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

ISKL students taking Advanced Placement (AP) have also achieved remarkable results. The mean ISKL AP subject score was 4 out of 5 possible points. 70% of ISKL’s AP applicants scored 4 or 5, which by AP standards represent highly qualified or extremely qualified students, respectively. AP exam results can lead to credit or advanced placement, or both, at the majority of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

He also attributed the school’s success to the support and dedication of its IB/AP coordinator, Ms. Ebony Manning, and her team of highly experienced teachers, counselors and administrators, including the high school’s principal, Jeff Farrington, who received the US-based national award. The success of ISKL’s high school program in enabling graduates to take advantage of global higher education opportunities is reflected in the more than 400 offers and acceptances the class of 2022 received from universities in 19 countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States Students have also applied or will apply to universities in Australia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea.
