RENTAL SWAP: The incredible condominium villas of Marbella in London?
WHETHER you’re a tired, overworked Londoner looking to escape the harsh weather or a homesick expat yearning to get home, Pacaso has an option.
The American tech company has more than a dozen co-ownership deals available from Marbella to London and Ibiza to the Cotswolds.
By paying from just €429,450, you can have a share of a Spanish house that guarantees you 44 nights a year in paradise.
Or increase the outlay to €940,000 and you can have an eighth share of an incredible Chelsea townhouse.
These are just a few of the properties on the Pacaso market, which include ski lodges in the Rocky Mountains, mansions in Palm Springs and villas in Tuscany.
With location always being the main draw, the company has carefully selected homes for sale in the most exclusive and upscale locations.
“We choose only the best properties in the world and each has the highest specifications possible,” says Amy Musser, European Communications Director.
In addition, they are carefully divided so that each owner has their own private space, while there is a planning system that adapts to each owner’s preferences over time. Everyone has guaranteed access during high season, at least twice, and can book several special dates per year. They can book from two days before or up to two years in advance, via the Pacaso application.
“Pacaso is real estate ownership and not a timeshare where you pay for time,” adds Musser, who is based in Barcelona. “Plus, there’s a maximum of seven other owners, and many are buying two shares each, which means less.”
Pacaso was created by two American real estate technology entrepreneurs who spent two years researching the Spanish market before buying their first two properties in Marbella.
The company began by covering major vacation areas in the United States, including Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs and Florida. It now extends to France and Italy and has just acquired a second home in London.
The property in Chelsea comes after the success of another stunning home in Mayfair, which is now fully owned. The four-bedroom property is on a quiet street in the heart of London’s SW3, a short walk from the shops, restaurants, pubs and galleries on King’s Road.
Behind the charming period facade, the five-storey house has been completely rebuilt to provide a spacious and bright contemporary space spread over five floors.
You enter a classic open-plan living space, then step down into a kitchen diner, featuring a bespoke Roundhouse kitchen, with a separate pantry and wine fridge. Sliding doors open to a secluded rear patio. Below is a daylight basement with home office, family room and an en-suite bedroom.
Meanwhile, in Marbella, two homes are currently on offer.
The incredible Villa Vida, which costs just €628,193, is a breathtaking property inspired by contemporary Californian living.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom property is located in Nueva Andalucia and boasts stunning views of La Concha mountain and various golf courses.
On three floors, it has a master bedroom with bathroom including a free-standing bathtub, upstairs, as well as an exclusive terrace and two other bedrooms.
On the ground floor is a large open-plan room comprising a kitchen, dining room and living room, all opening onto a large outdoor living area and swimming pool. The kitchen is elegantly finished to the highest specification, including a stunning central all-marble work/breakfast island. Below, there is a large family room and, at the back, two other bedrooms with bathrooms, perfect for children or guests.
Outside, there’s a roof terrace furnished for alfresco dining, as well as a hot tub; another terrace at bedroom level with a beautiful infinity pool below.
Further down, two levels of immaculate private gardens, cascade elegantly down the hillside, all with excellent views.
The second villa is all about the location, so sitting between two of Marbella’s top golf clubs, Aloha and Las Brisas, definitely takes a beating.
Set in verdant hills, just five minutes from the coast, with sea and mountain views, Villa Aire is certainly a breath of fresh air.
The five bedrooms and seven bathrooms cost just €788,688 and include a swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna and games room. It has a shaded garden with a swimming pool with a shallow pool for children. Rooftop is the perfect spot to catch the rays all day with views that stretch for miles. Inside, it counts on an underground cinema and a games room, with a pool table, while customers have their own wine cellar.
